John Thickett

As a seasoned and successful business leader, who has over the years worked at the grass roots levels to grow cricket in the USA, I have decided to run for USACA Treasurer in the 2008 elections. I did this because I believe I can bring my expertise and skills to help cricket develop in the US, and also because new people with new ideas need to lead USACA to the next level.

Business and Educational Bio

A passion for me is starting and developing businesses – I love challenges. After gaining a first class honors degree in engineering from Loughborough University in England in 1986 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1990, I shortly thereafter invested in my first business. Through the 1990s I led the setting up or acquisition of several high tech manufacturing facilities and built a contract electronics manufacturing company spanning multiple locations in the US and Mexico, prior to a strategic sale in the late 1990s.

In 1998 I invested in a regional residential real estate brokerage firm in south Texas, and have been involved in the past nine years as we have acquired other firms and converted the company to a national franchise. Most recently, in 2003, I co-founded Tusker Group, a legal process outsourcing company with operations in both the US and India. We provide litigation support services utilizing highly trained Indian attorneys and other staff to US and European corporations and law firms.

I believe my fifteen plus years of experience in entrepreneurial business will serve me well in playing a leadership role as USACA Treasurer. We face many challenges and I know that I bring several key skills to the team to help advance the cause of cricket in the USA.
